V.A. - Journey Through Music (2006)

THE REASON
The whole story began Friday, 28/7/2006 at company’s restaurant when I went to join them for lunch. Yes I swear that I didn’t eat, damn the diet. "T" was speaking on the mobile to someone and suddenly said "Take Five" to the guy he was speaking. Immediately, as some uncontrolled power to put me forward, I start: Dave Brubeck Quartet from Time Out, composed by Paul Desmond, on the great drums solo Joe Morello. "T" stayed motionless; probably for something different he was talking on the phone and "X" starting the bla-bla with "S". The result it was the grumpiness that, so far, I wasn’t able to write for him CD with good music. When I dared to ask him what he wanted to include to this notorious CD, he passed me the ball leaving me the absolute ruler of choice. In short, made me like the fakir who has put his body in a cubic box of edge 0.50 m. The joke was that followed "S" saying "one more for me buddy", and so what to do, I said yes to the challenge. I would include in an 80 minutes CD the whole music.
I woke up early Saturday morning I put some coffee and went down to my studio. I had many time to record in real time and basically I liked the idea because it was bringing me back the old days. You see, with these goddamned PCs even the pleasure of recording is under squeezed time, with whatever this might mean for the sound quality.

After the first coffee whiff, I switched on all the equipment connected with the main console that would take part in the project to reach the proper temperature when it would start recording. After the second whiff of coffee, began the arduous task of selecting the CDs with the songs that would take part in it. Eventually after some time finally selected 15 original CD that covered almost the entire musical spectrum from rock to jazz. After about 80 minutes real recording time I had the first mixed master CD which was the matrix for all copies that honorable gentleman you have in your hands. For the reproduction of the copies I used the computer in order to have 100% compatibility with all modern players of the market, because the deck of Fostex that made the master cutting, as a professional tool, not likes all the players. Don’t worry though, because nothing lost from the original sound quality, due to the used the method "copy on the fly".

THE EQUIPMENT
For player deck used the dual player CDN90 NUMARK which sent the sound directly to the NEUMARK Professional Digital Mixer Console PPD9000, which using like interface the Ultra High Resolution Sample Rate Converter 24Bit/96KHz SRC2496 of ULTRAMACH PRO passed the signal through the SONY High Density Linear Converter of Super Bit Mapping DAT 2000ES to come to FOSTEX CR 200 CD R which took over the final cut of the master CD.
Reproduction and transport of the signal was in 24Bit/48Kz and cutting with pure digital mixing real-time, was in 16Bit/44.1Kz, which has adapted the ULTRAMATCH PRO. Finally, it is unfair not to mention that the monitoring of the sound in my ears took a pair of headphones AKG K501.
Then the master CD was assigned to the DVD-ROM SD-R2512 TOSHIBA available to the Lap Top nx9010 of Compaq / HP, which sent the signal through port USB / 2 in NEC's External ND-3520A DVD RW for cutting. The program used for cutting was the Nero 7 Version 7.0.5.4
